“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”            –Maria Robinson

Life can be incredibly hard.  All of us have experienced pain and suffering.  Sometimes life events–traumatic experiences, loss,  life changing transitions such as marriage, divorce, parenting, empty nesting, menopause, and many others–may leave us feeling overwhelmed.  Resilience is the natural ability in each of us to bounce back or rebound from what life throws at us.  Sometimes resilience happens naturally, we recover on our own with time.  But sometimes the intensity of events combined with our genetic/biological make up and early life experiences blocks this natural recovery and we need help and support to find ourselves again, or maybe for the first time.  I believe psychotherapy can be a source for many people to connect to their resilience.  Psychotherapy can help you understand yourself and your feelings better.  It can help you learn skills and, most importantly, build understanding and compassion for yourself and your struggle.

Lori Deschene said, “Pain is not a sign of weakness, but bearing it alone is a choice to grow weak.” I believe all of us have an ability to heal and healing is not something we do well in isolation.  I realize, however, that reaching out for help is often very difficult.  It takes tremendous courage to share our pain.  I encourage you to take that step!
